MOSAIC ART INSTITUTE OF NATICK (MAION): MAION is an arts
immersion program teaching the foundation of community partnership and
philanthropy by designing and creating large public art mosaic
sculptures. MAION brings residents together to complete shared
community mosaic art projects that positively impact future growth and
desirability of their towns. Participants in our programs deepen
their understanding of social engagement through the shared
responsibility of completing a large group mosaic project. Our alumni
emerge as lifelong agents of community engagement, who realize the power
and importance of shared experiences.
SHAKLEE: For over twenty-five years my family and I have made
the commitment to do our part for the earth by using Shaklee's safe,
effective, non-toxic, biodegradable, non-polluting, economical household
cleaners and laundry products. We have shared our love of Shaklee
products with many friends, family members, neighbors and friends of
friends. By introducing other people to the health benefits of
bringing Shaklee products into their homes, we have maintained our rank
as independent Shaklee distributors since 1983. And the best
benefit of all is that we have a family of six who is almost always
healthy. Our Shaklee network marketing business has given me an
income that has allowed me to be a stay-at-home mom for my four
home-schooled (until high school) children, while having the time and
energy to pursue my love of making beautiful artworks and continuing my
commitment to community service whenever possible.
NATICK COMMUNITY ORGANIC FARM (NCOF): Since we moved to
Natick in 1983 my family and I have volunteered, helped and served on
the Board at NCOF. The Farm is a wonderful place to bring children and
school groups for a relaxed outdoor visit with cows, sheep, rabbits,
turkeys, pigs and goats. NCOF is open to the public year
round, 9 to 5 weekdays and during chore time on the weekends. The Farm
provides hands-on educational experiences for all ages through teaching
certified organic agriculture and productive land use practices. Program
and product purchasing information is available on the NCOF website.
In 2002, I had the privilege and fun to write a colorful, illustrated
book about NCOF called "A Year at the Farm"!
SNOW FARM: Snow Farm is a craft program in western
Massachusetts in a rural setting, that offers classes for adults in the
spring, late summer and fall, and classes for high school students in
the summer. If you like exploring your art in a quiet atmosphere,
with great food, nice people and shared sleeping accommodations, then
check out Snow Farm for long weekend classes and week-long classes!
THE CENTER FOR ARTS IN NATICK (TCAN): TCAN is a community
based arts center promoting visual arts, dance, theater and every kind
of music from jazz, to pop, to rock, to classical, to acapella, and
more. The performance space is intimate, seating about 200 people, so
every show is up close and personal. Artists display their work in
the lobby and on the walls of the performance area. Classes are
always changing and interesting, with many theater and dance classes for
kids, and art classes for adults. Check out the website to get tickets
for upcoming concerts and shows.
